La Azada is more than just a name. It’s a tool, a symbol of working the land with our hands, of respecting the cycles of nature, and crafting flavour the right way, never the easy way!

I have been obsessed with all things spicy since the age of six, with a lingering memory of sitting on a chair too tall for my legs at the home of the my parents’ close friends, the Poonans. Three generations under one roof, with a kitchen that never seemed to cool down, and a home that ran on cardamom, turmeric, and the kind of warmth that makes strangers feel like kin.

Here I was initiated to “Durban-style” chicken curry. The real deal. The kind that starts with whole spices toasting in ghee at dawn, and carries the indentured history of Indian South Africa in every aromatic molecule that makes the air itself taste like anticipation.

I should have flinched. I didn’t cry. I didn’t reach for milk. Instead, I reached for more! The burn was a beacon, not a barrier, and it whispered “there is more here in one bite, than you knew existed in the world!

La Azada isn’t just about hot sauces; it’s the culmination of a lifetime of observation that food deserves boldness, and that the right level of fire fixes (almost) everything.

We believe that the very best flavours are born from patience, craft, and a deep commitment to the earth.

We blend handpicked Spanish peppers with local ingredients, always honouring the rich history that has shaped Andalucía for over a thousand years.

Each batch we make is small, authentic, and fire-crafted. No industrial shortcuts, no artificial tricks, just pure ingredients and honest heat.

We celebrate the classic, the new, and the forgotten, seeking out the rare, the unexpected pairings, and letting the land guide our recipes.

This is Fire from Andalucía.
Carry it with you.
